On Saturday evening the EYC 2021 were officially opened in Tilburg, the Netherlands! A Opening Ceremony 2.0 maybe? Hosted by former EYC participant Rianne van Zijp, all 22 teams were called up on the stage to present themselves to the world. It’s clear that this generation isn’t afraid for some pressure, because all the players who we asked a question were really confident about what is coming the next few days. And they should be!
Besides the team presentation, we also organized a quiz. It took us less time than we thought, because almost everybody answered that Sweden won the first medal in EYC history, but that was wrong. Only a few players were left in the quiz after that second question. In the end it was Mia Madsen from Denmark to get the first prize of these championships: eternal fame!
In between presenting the teams, NBF president Bob Schut, Alderman of Sports in Tilburg Rolph Dols and ETBF president Ad Ophelders thanked all the partners who stayed with us during the difficult times, welcomed the federations in Tilburg and wished all the players, coaches and officials a great week with even better results!
On Sunday, the EYC will start with the Doubles Event. The boys will play in two squads, starting at 09.00 hrs and 13.15hrs. You can find all the line-ups and the results, at our results page: https://bowlingresults.info/eyc/2021/
After working hard today, brothers Glenn and Roy the Haan prepared the live streaming for the championships. Subscribe to Dutch Bowling TV on YouTube, to not miss a thing.
